Cavity!
Went to the dentist today. I finally have my first cavity....ugh!....it's a sure sign that my body is starting to betray me. I guess it is my birthday month. Oh well, it was a good run.

No Vacancy
I built this bird house and put it outside last January. We had no visitors last year and we were starting to get sad because we haven't had any visitors this year. Well, one + year later we have what we believe to be a nuthatch coming and going. Never mind that this was a woodpecker house - we are just happy to have a visitor. He (pretty sure it's a he) spent all afternoon putting small nest like objects through the hole. He must be getting his new pad ready for his girl!

Gymnastics.
I don't have the words to explain what it feels like to watch your daughters learn gymnastics in such an amazing facility such as First State Gymnastics.
I think my first gymnastics class was at a small "dance" studio in a small strip mall on Parsippany Rd. We carpooled with Cynthia J. and sometimes her sister, I think? The black mat we learned to do straddle rolls on smelled like this weird rubber. It was my first recital, and it was scary!!! We have a picture with my skirt nicely tucked into my trunks:-)
Then it was off to MJS for class on Saturdays. Mrs. H. was one of (the only?) the teachers and she'd yell "squeeze your butt!!" It was in the gymnasium so the floor was a basketball court. There was a high beam, with a (not very) soft mat underneath. The uneven bars had another green mat. A single vault without a runway - CAN you imagine? I don't really remember the floor...oh wait! It was a WRESTLING MAT! No wonder my joints hurt today. I thought it was the ankle weights.
I really have no recollection of making the transition to the Madison Rosettes, part of the Madison Area YMCA. But I do remember it was quite a distance to drive and we carpooled with a couple friends that we went to school with. Our gymnasium was at a closed school off of Harter Rd.? Is that right? We chatted while stretching on the stage, as a couple of the older girls led. If I wanted to go to open gym, which was my favorite things to do, all of my homework had to be done. It was a great incentive. I remember the night that my parents took me to get my warm-up uniform at Al's Sporting Goods. It was an amazing experience to become a part of that team. We worked together, travelled together (Regal Ridge, anyone?), but most of all had fun together. OK, I just Googled Madison Rosettes and did you know that there is a Facebook page? Saw Steph; what a crazy circle of life, but more on that later.

A striking resemblance...
As we were making handcrafted ornaments, the Today show was on in the background..when TurtleDove says, "I just saw a boy who looked like Pop." After the commercial break, the "boy" was back on...it was Hugh Heffner.
